Autodesk and Citrix Systems are entering into a strategic partnership to enable customers to use Autodesk GIS applications more efficiently and flexibly. AutoCAD Map 3D users gain major benefits: storing data on Citrix servers provides greater data security, lower implementation costs, and centralized data management. The geospatial solution is accessed via Citrix XenApp. AutoCAD Map 3D is currently the only AutoCAD-based platform to support these functions.
“Some of the largest telecommunications companies, utilities, and government agencies already use Citrix products and benefit from this simple, cost-effective method of deploying and managing AutoCAD Map 3D across the enterprise—across locations and regardless of the devices and network connections used,” explains Lisa Campbell, Vice President, Autodesk Geospatial.
“Our participation in the Citrix Ready program means that our customers can now deploy and manage their GIS solutions from within a Citrix environment.”
Citrix XenApp is an end-to-end application delivery system. It enables AutoCAD Map 3D to be made available securely across the enterprise without sacrificing performance or functionality. Through proven virtualization technology and centralized application management in the data center, Citrix XenApp can significantly reduce IT administration costs while improving data security and regulatory compliance within the enterprise.
“Citrix XenApp has been extensively revised and adapted to deliver graphics-intensive, high-performance applications such as AutoCAD Map 3D,” explains David Roussain, Vice President of the Application Virtualization Group at Citrix Systems. “For Autodesk, the market leader in digital 2D and 3D design and planning, successful completion of the Citrix Ready certification program is an important step toward enabling customers to deploy AutoCAD Map 3D applications across locations and systems via Citrix XenApp.”
With its Citrix XenApp certification, Autodesk joins a steadily growing number of software vendors whose products are optimized for use with the Citrix Application Delivery Infrastructure. More than 1,800 software and hardware manufacturers and service providers now participate in the Citrix Alliance Program. Products from Citrix Alliance partners carry the “Citrix Ready” certification, making it easier for customers to select and implement optimal enterprise solutions.
