The new 17-inch model features a panel with IPS technology that achieves excellent color accuracy even at wide viewing angles. It is therefore particularly suitable for monitor walls and as a replacement for existing CRT monitors.
Another highlight at IBC is Penta’s 3G input card for HD2line displays, which enables 1080p 3 Gbit/s SDI signals to be connected directly to the displays. The optional 3G input board can be expanded with a fiber-optic input implemented as a plug-in SFP module. This allows cable-length limitations to be overcome without additional extenders. “I think we are one of the first display manufacturers able to offer a 3G interface for our displays,” says Riesener.
HD2control software can be used, for example, to switch all displays in a monitor wall easily to a different aspect ratio or input. A new feature allows users to recreate their monitor wall in the software using drag and drop, providing a clear improvement in overview and ease of use.
For this reason, more than 100 HD2line displays were used by ARD and ZDF at the Beijing Olympics, for example, while another 60 displays are currently being commissioned in NDR’s new Control Room 3 in Hamburg. These are mainly 24-inch displays that receive dynamic IMD and tally information from a VSM controller and can also be controlled through it.
