The most important development steps from prototype to series-production status include:
- The Twister Dolly’s steering geometry was refined again to provide highly precise steering, while the smooth operation of the steering lever was further improved.
-
Development of add-on and tiered platforms: For the first time, the base area of a platform dolly can be expanded not only sideways but also vertically. Tiered platforms mounted above the tires can be used as shelves for accessories such as batteries or as supports during a camera move, enlarging the working area.
-
The push bar was reinforced and can be mounted in as many as six different positions on the platform, including at the side, allowing a Steadicam operator, for example, to brace against it comfortably.
A central feature of the Twister Dolly is its combined pneumatic and track wheels. They now allow dolly moves on track (62 cm track gauge) or on pneumatic tires without time-consuming conversion. In its full configuration, the TWISTER is rolled onto the track using the access ramp and, when required, returned to its pneumatic tires in the same way. The dolly does not need to be carried or reconfigured to switch between pneumatic-tire and track operation. With an overall width of only 78 cm, it also passes through doorways with ease.

The three selectable steering modes—FRONT, REAR and ROUND-A-ROUND—allow the Twister Dolly to turn skillfully in any direction and move precisely around the subject. Depending on requirements, either only the front or rear wheels move independently, or all four wheels move together. Even the tightest bends are straightforward thanks to a minimum inner turning radius of 50 cm. Both steering axles feature geometry designed for precise cornering without tire scrub, minimizing operating noise. This also enables repeatable circular moves with the Twister Dolly without track.
A newly developed Panther steering push bar combines conventional drawbar operation with a stable push bar. With one movement, the drawbar becomes a practical steering handle for push operation.
The Twister Dolly is suitable for both film and HD applications. It has a load capacity of up to 250 kg and can be expanded with various attachable platforms. For the first time, the base area of a platform dolly can be expanded not only sideways but also vertically. Tiered platforms mounted above the tires can serve conveniently as shelves for accessories such as batteries or as supports during camera moves, optimally enlarging the working area. As usual, mounting options are available for standard Panther accessories such as a turnstile, Euro adapter, seat pins and bowl mount.
