Sonnet Technologies is presenting the Pro Dual CompactFlash (CF) Adapter for ExpressCard/34 slots at IBC Amsterdam. The memory-card reader enables photographers to read two CF cards simultaneously on a MacBook Pro. This parallel process makes the workflow considerably faster and simplifies the daily work of professional photographers. To achieve maximum speeds, the adapter uses the ExpressCard slot’s 2.5 Gbps PCI Express interface, making it significantly faster than conventional USB 2.0 solutions.
“With the Pro Dual CompactFlash Adapter ExpressCard/34, professional photographers save valuable time because they can transfer data exceptionally quickly,” says Robert Farnsworth, CEO of Sonnet Technologies. “Media professionals are now expected to deliver fast results regardless of location. While data is still being transferred with the Sonnet adapter, the photographer can already continue working.”
The dual-slot card reader can be used simultaneously with two Type I CF cards, or alternatively with one Type I and one Type II card. It supports UDMA6 transfers at sustained data rates of 133 MB/sec. Even the fastest CF memory cards currently available are read by the Sonnet product at their maximum speed. Future CF cards will be read at speeds of up to 886x. This makes the Dual CompactFlash Adapter an excellent alternative to USB solutions. Its compact design makes it easy to carry in an accessory bag.
The Pro Dual CompactFlash Adapter ExpressCard/34 is compatible with MacBook Pro systems running Mac OS 10.5 or later.
The product will ship from October and will be available at a recommended retail price of €80 including VAT.
