DataDirect Networks, Inc., a provider of infrastructure solutions for the most demanding requirements, says its S2A9900 Storage Appliance enables more than 30 real-time accesses for the parallel editing of uncompressed HD streams with Apple Final Cut Pro for the first time. The Silicon Storage Architecture (S2A) therefore sets new standards for bandwidth and speed when working with high-definition content. In a cluster, S2A9900 systems achieve data throughput rates of more than 100 gigabytes per second.
“Only the DataDirect Networks solution enables parallel Final Cut Pro sessions with such low latency. Even when many users are accessing and editing content and using the high storage bandwidth, high-definition content is reproduced with outstanding image quality and no screen flicker,” explains Dave Fellinger, Chief Technology Officer at DataDirect Networks.
The current flagship product, the S2A9900, is the eighth generation of the S2A platform and offers even greater performance and scalability. The S2A9900 provides 1.2 petabytes in two racks and sustained read and write speeds of up to 6 GB/s. When multiple systems are clustered, the S2A platform can deliver throughput rates above 100 GB/s for high-performance applications.
The S2A9900 is also the only storage platform that writes and reads data at the same speed. This makes performance precisely predictable, particularly with large unstructured data and competing data streams of the kind found in broadcast, post-production and video-on-demand environments.
