Based on Jordan Mechner’s popular Prince of Persia video game, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films are following Pirates of the Caribbean with another action-packed blockbuster. Jake Gyllenhaal (Zodiac), Bond girl Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace), Oscar winner Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi) and Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2) star in the sweeping fantasy adventure, which has just begun filming. Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) directs.

Gyllenhaal plays Dastan, a young prince in sixth-century Persia who joins forces with the beautiful and determined Princess Tamina, played by Arterton, to prevent a power-hungry nobleman from obtaining the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its owner to rule the world.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will film in and around Marrakesh, Ouarzazate and Erfoud in Morocco before moving to enormous sets in London for interior scenes. The film will reach German cinemas in summer 2010.
