More Than 92,000 Visitors Attend the Second Games Convention Asia in Singapore

This year’s GCA also served as the platform for numerous product launches, including Electronic Arts’ Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Trade visitors established business contacts in new markets at the Business Center, while industry experts exchanged knowledge through talks and panel discussions at the conference.

“GCA is something new for the games industry in the Asia-Pacific region,” explained Wolfgang Marzin, chairman of the management board of Leipziger Messe GmbH. “This year the fair was used to present numerous cutting-edge computer games and several product launches. We are very satisfied with the result and already look forward to next year’s GCA.”

Jörg Zeißig, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe International, said three days filled with excitement, enjoyment and new insights into the local games industry had now concluded successfully. Logistics at the Suntec Exhibition & Congress Center were also improved compared with the previous year: “Combining the Business Center with the GC Asia Conference significantly improved the fair’s B2B area. GCA is therefore a first-class business platform for the industry.”

A total of 118 exhibitors, including major industry players such as ASUS Technology, Replay Interactive, Electronic Arts, Maxsoft and Sony, presented themselves across approximately 7,500 square metres. They showed games from every genre as well as consoles and mobile, online and PC games. The parallel GC Asia Conference brought together 630 games-industry experts for engaging talks and panel discussions. Topics important to the Asian market—including outsourcing, mobile games, and online and casual games—were examined in detail, along with business opportunities and prospects in North America, Europe and Asia.

GCA 2009 will take place in Singapore again from September 17 to 20, accompanied by the GC Asia Conference from September 17 to 19.
