Pixomondo’s crowd pipeline combines Massive and BehaveIT. Mohsen gives seminar participants an overview of the pipeline’s various elements and the tools developed to manage the workflow efficiently.
Crowd choreography and simulation are consistently among the most complex areas of the visual-effects industry. In recent years, films have featured outstanding crowd scenes that had long been technically impossible. Technical progress—and the expectations of consumers and the industry—have now advanced to the point where professional crowd work is indispensable.
Intelligent crowds should interact independently with their surroundings. A well-designed crowd pipeline allows directors to avoid getting caught up in details and concentrate more fully on the creative aspects of production.
Speaker Mohsen Mousavi is Lead FX-Crowd Technical Director and Head of Technology at Pixomondo. Crowd simulation, logic, procedural animation and complex FX scenarios are his passion. After developing many different crowd and FX tools himself, Mohsen joined Pixomondo as Lead FX-Crowd TD. He played a major role in the effects shots for The Red Baron and handled them so successfully that the company assigned him a new task: building a new crowd pipeline to enable an even more efficient workflow.
