Film has served us faithfully for more than a hundred years, but in the coming years digital capture will prevail, just as it has in photography.
Digital is already faster and less expensive today, and for many tasks it even delivers better quality than film. Naturally, the digital workflow also has pitfalls and new problems that must be solved. But film is no different; the difference is that sufficient experience and established workarounds already exist there.
The cost pressure accelerating with the approaching recession will force more and more productions to switch in order to compete with the DV rebels.
