Following the launch of its GRX 365 service, Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY) and a global leader in mobile messaging services, is now the world’s largest roaming provider for mobile data services. GRX 365 offers excellent network performance and the highest level of security, positioning the company at the forefront of next-generation mobile services. Mobile operators using the service also benefit from global connectivity and added value for their customer base.

In July of this year, Sybase 365 secured exclusive worldwide rights to the Cable & Wireless (C&W) GRX network, with more than 70 directly connected mobile operators and 19 peering partners. Most are among the leading providers in their countries and serve customers with high average revenue per user (ARPU). Sybase 365 is also continuously working to connect additional mobile operators around the world to GRX 365.

C&W’s high-quality MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) network is one of the world’s most secure and powerful private IP networks and forms the backbone of GRX 365. Customers therefore benefit from a service that was unique in the market at the time.

From almost anywhere in the world, millions of mobile users can securely and reliably access their familiar data services, including wireless email, WAP browsing, MMS, and SMS, while roaming across numerous mobile networks.

When customers are outside their home network’s coverage, a mobile operator can no longer control or influence service quality. The operator must then rely on its roaming partners and hope that they provide good customer service. Customers accustomed to high 3G availability from their network provider naturally expect the same while travelling.

“GRX 365 ensures consistently optimal service quality. This can secure high customer satisfaction and growing ARPU for mobile network operators,” explained Marty Beard, President of Sybase 365. “The sheer number of mobile users who can reliably access mobile data services helps operators increase revenue from inbound and outbound roaming services.”

The robust GRX also places Sybase 365 in the strategically important position of further expanding and adapting its services within an increasingly IP-focused infrastructure. GRX 365 was the market’s best choice for global data roaming and international MMS exchange at the time; the service was also IPX-ready and provided interoperability for voice and video over IP, instant messaging, and other services.

Mobile and fixed-line communications are increasingly converging. Sybase 365 is therefore ideally positioned to provide seamless and secure interoperability services for mobile operators worldwide.

“We are able to expand and adapt our services within an increasingly multimedia- and IP-focused infrastructure,” Beard continued. “This is part of our continuing commitment to deliver genuine added value to our enterprise customers and mobile operators.”
