Google’s Chrome browser still has a vanishingly small global market share, according to website analysis and statistics company OneStat. Chrome accounts for only 0.54 percent—less than alternative browser Opera and barely more than browser veteran Netscape.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer continues to dominate the browser market with 81.36 percent, although its share has fallen compared with February of this year, when it stood at 83.27 percent. Mozilla’s alternative Firefox recorded a slight increase to 14.67 percent, up 0.9 percentage points. Apple’s Safari browser also expanded its worldwide user base and claimed a 2.42 percent share, up 0.24 percentage points.

Germany differs significantly in browser adoption. Users there choose Internet Explorer less often, while every IE alternative except Apple’s Safari enjoys greater popularity among internet users than in the worldwide comparison, in some cases considerably greater.

OneStat’s analysis covers websites that use the company’s own technology. According to the company, OneStat is present on 75,000 websites in more than 100 countries. The analysis is based on average values from the previous week, covering two million visitors and divided into 20,000 visitors per day in 100 countries.
