The GPU is designed specifically for mechanical computer-aided design and digital-content-creation applications, as well as compute-intensive scientific visualization. Its GPU architecture, larger graphics memory and 30-bit color depth provide a substantial performance increase, making Quadro FX 4800 an ideal solution for ultra-realistic real-time visualization.
Equipped with 192 CUDA-programmable parallel processing cores, Quadro FX 4800 offers twice the performance of the previous generation of ultra-high-end graphics processors.
Key Quadro FX 4800 capabilities include:
- Real-time visualization of large data sets—With 1.5GB of graphics memory, Quadro FX 4800 has sufficient capacity to process memory-intensive textures and frames in real time, delivering fill rates above 38 billion texels per second and geometry performance of 300 million triangles per second.
- Improved image quality—128-bit precision in the graphics pipeline and 32x full-scene antialiasing increase image sharpness and quality.
- High color accuracy and resolutions—Dual 10-bit DisplayPort connections support more than one billion colors. A dual-link display connection is also provided for high-resolution monitors up to 3,840 by 2,400 pixels at 24Hz.

High-performance visualization—CUDA, NVIDIA’s parallel GPU-computing architecture, provides the basis for high-performance imagery and opens new possibilities for complex tasks including real-time ray tracing, video encoding and interactive volume rendering.
“In an increasingly competitive environment, professional users must deliver better, faster and more cost-effective results,” emphasized Jeff Brown, general manager of Professional Solutions at NVIDIA. “NVIDIA is meeting this challenge by developing solutions that adequately address the specific requirements of different target groups, whether geophysicists or MCAD designers.”
NVIDIA Quadro solutions are available from leading PC manufacturers and systems integrators, as well as NVIDIA channel partners PNY Technologies in the United States and Europe, Leadtek in the Asia-Pacific region, and Elsa in Japan.
