Germany’s First Apple Retail Store Opens in Munich on Saturday, 6 December

Germany’s first Apple Retail Store will open in Munich at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 6 December. The two-story store is located on Rosenstraße, only a few steps from Marienplatz in the heart of the city’s main shopping district.

One floor will present Apple products and solutions, while the other will be devoted exclusively to the wide range of services. For the first time anywhere in the world, customers in Munich will be able to use Personal Setup, a special service offering every new Mac customer a free one-hour session with assistance on data transfer, software downloads and other questions to ensure a smooth, rapid transition.

“We are delighted to bring the unique Apple Retail Store shopping experience to Germany,” said Ron Johnson, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail. “The beautiful new store is a great place for everyone in Munich to buy, learn and be inspired—and just in time for the Christmas season.”

At the Apple Store on Rosenstraße, customers can explore Apple’s most popular products at their leisure. More than 40 Macs, 40 iPods and ten iPhones will be available to try, including the entirely new MacBook family; fourth-generation iPod nano models in nine vivid colors; the new second-generation iPod touch, ideal for enjoying music, videos and games; and MacBook Air, the world’s thinnest notebook.

A highly qualified team of 60 employees will provide the same service standards in Germany as at Apple Stores worldwide. At the Genius Bar, customers can receive free help, tips, techniques and informed technical support from experts. Through the popular One to One program, the Apple Store offers tailored training for €99 per year on a broad range of subjects, from introductions to Mac or iPod to improving filmmaking and digital-photography skills. Personal Shoppers will help visitors choose the right Mac or iPod for personal use or as a gift.

The Rosenstraße store will also host iTunes Live from Munich, a concert series featuring some of the city’s most popular musicians performing live in the Apple Store. Admission is free, and the concerts will be recorded and subsequently made available for download through iTunes.

Apple products continue to grow in popularity. More than 100 million visitors worldwide have entered Apple Stores on four continents this year alone. Apple now operates 251 stores in nine countries: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
