Game Focus Germany 2009, taking place on 29 and 30 January, offers a program of first-class speakers. The first prominent names confirmed are Tom Sperry of Vyk Games, Theodore Bergquist of GamersGate and certified Scrum trainer Boris Gloger. The internationally oriented conference offers practical specialist knowledge for developers and publishers. The Hanover industry meeting for the entertainment-software sector is organized annually by nordmedia and the German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software.
The international lineup of recognized experts promises first-hand specialist knowledge. Tom Sperry is CEO of Shanghai outsourcing specialist Vyk Games, and his presentation will examine the opportunities and risks of outsourcing in the games industry. Theodore Bergquist, CEO of download portal GamersGate, will explain the evolution of retail business with particular attention to digital distribution. Boris Gloger, owner and founder of Gloger Consulting, will focus on successfully applying Scrum in game development.
Further speakers will be added to the program shortly.
Other additions this year include three poster sessions and a Regio Summit. During the poster sessions, three renowned German law firms will present legal subjects from the games industry and encourage exchange and discussion. The Regio Summit, organized in cooperation with the G.A.M.E. federal association of computer-game developers, will provide information about funding opportunities for game developers in Germany and abroad.
At the SPEED-LINK party organized by Jöllenbeck on the first evening, participants will have an opportunity to meet speakers personally away from the lectern and establish new contacts.
“We are delighted to welcome Tom Sperry, Theodore Bergquist and Boris Gloger as speakers at the congress,” said Sebastian Wolters of nordmedia. “Their many years of industry experience enable them to provide valuable, illuminating presentations that will be highly exciting even for genuine games veterans.”
Under the new participation concept, attendees will receive personal invitations. Industry representatives, students and other interested parties can nevertheless apply for free participation at http://www.gamefocus.de.
