Hesse University Films at the 2009 Berlinale

The “Hessen Shorts, Part 1” short-film program features work from four universities.

Universities in Hesse will present a 60-minute short-film program at the 2009 Berlinale Film Market for the first time. Titled “Hessen Shorts, Part 1,” this is the first comprehensive showcase of its kind for the state and includes short films from universities in Kassel, Offenbach, Darmstadt and Wiesbaden. The spectrum ranges from live-action shorts and documentaries to 2D and 3D animation and experimental film.

The entries were selected from 300 minutes of submitted films and will give festival organizers, producers and distributors an insight into work produced at Hesse’s universities over two days.

“Hessen Shorts, Part 1” was initiated and organized by the Hessen Film and Media Academy (hFMA), a university network founded in October 2007. Its co-partner is Film- und Kinobüro Hessen. The Hessen Film and Media Academy will also be presented at the Berlinale reception at the State of Hesse Representation in Berlin on 10 February 2009.
