The award committee of the US television academy NATAS, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, thereby recognized SMPTE’s intensive efforts to standardize MXF as a unified file format for exchanging audiovisual material and metadata in television production.
The Institut für Rundfunktechnik was actively involved in the standardization of MXF within SMPTE from the beginning, paying particular attention to the European Broadcasting Union’s requirements for the format.
Through its MXF SDK and MXF Analyser Professional products, as well as numerous interoperability workshops and plug-fests with a wide range of manufacturers, IRT actively contributes to the successful introduction of the file format in tapeless television production, program exchange and archiving.
