PowerDVD with support for 400- and 500-series graphics processors is available now from the CyberLink online store. Combining CyberLink’s leading high-definition media-playback software with the S3 Graphics ChromotionHD 2.0 video engine gives users excellent image quality and exceptionally clear digital HD surround sound. PowerDVD 8 uses S3 Graphics ChromotionHD technology to provide high-quality HD decoding of the latest video codecs, including H.264, VC-1 and MPEG-2, for Blu-ray Discs.
Through full bitstream decoding, inverse transformation, motion compensation and in-loop deblocking, Chrome 400- and 500-series GPUs allow PowerDVD 8 to offload HD-intensive tasks from the CPU to the GPU. This makes decoding more efficient and minimizes total system power consumption, ultimately producing much smoother playback.
“The cooperation between S3 Graphics and CyberLink brings a new alternative for outstanding 1080p HD playback on home media centers, desktop PCs and laptops,” said Dr. Ken Weng, general manager of S3 Graphics. “The extensive features of the Chrome 400 and 500 series give users a complete multimedia experience, from impressive HD video to the finest HD surround sound from a leading performance-per-watt product.”
“We are pleased to work with S3 Graphics on an outstanding HD video experience using the leading CyberLink PowerDVD 8 media player,” said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. “Technology partnerships with hardware manufacturers such as S3 Graphics are what continue to advance our multimedia-solutions product range.”
