Tomorrow, January 22, Bolt finally opens in cinemas, distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Germany.
The story:
Life is one adventure after another for Bolt. The superdog tirelessly fights for good, chases deranged villains, fearlessly faces every danger and repeatedly rescues his owner Penny—at least while the cameras are rolling. Bolt is the star of a TV series and, of course, has supernatural powers only on television. The problem is that Bolt knows no world outside the TV studio and firmly believes he really has superpowers.
This misconception gets him into trouble when he takes the staged kidnapping of his owner literally and escapes from the studio. Bolt finds himself far from his sheltered Hollywood world in New York City. He must now make a long, difficult journey home and back to Penny. Because he cannot rely on his supposed powers during the trip, he needs help. Together with the grumpy stray cat Mittens and his biggest fan, the television-addicted, overenthusiastic hamster Rhino, he embarks on a turbulent odyssey across the United States. Thanks to his companions, Bolt realizes that a real dog does not need superpowers to be a hero…
Bolt is the first animated adventure from Walt Disney Animation Studios created under the leadership of animation icon and Disney/Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter, whose credits include Toy Story (1995) and Cars (2006). Bolt marks the directorial debut of Chris Williams and Byron Howard, who have been part of the Walt Disney Animation Studios creative team for more than ten years and contributed to theatrical successes including Mulan (1998) and Lilo & Stitch (2002).
