Constantin Film Verleih GmbH recorded more than 8.4 million cinema admissions in Germany for nine German in-house and co-productions released in 2008. This makes Constantin Film the clear market leader in distributing German productions, reaching almost twice as many admissions as its nearest competitor. Constantin Film’s in-house and co-productions include the most successful German film of 2008 by admissions, The Wave, with around 2.6 million viewers, and the highest-grossing German film, The Baader Meinhof Complex, with around 2.4 million viewers. Constantin productions Asterix at the Olympic Games, with around 1.6 million viewers, and Wild Chicks in Love, with around one million, passed the one-million-admissions mark and contributed to the excellent overall result, as did Urmel Fully in Motion, A Year Ago in Winter, The Downfall of Berlin: Anonyma, Beste Gegend and Paris 36. Including licensed titles, Constantin brought a total of 13 films to German cinemas last year.
With this result, Constantin Film AG once again confirms its status as Germany’s leading independent film production and distribution company.
