Christian Tramitz, already well known as a “Ranger,” voices the famous Old Shatterhand, Cosma Shiva Hagen voices Winnetou’s beautiful sister Nscho-tschi, and Thomas Fritsch voices the villainous Colonel Brinkley—accompanied by the group Texas Lightning and their unmistakable songs.
With support from the Karl May publishing house in Bamberg, Gert Ludewig directed the gripping yet nostalgic and humorous horse opera for fans young and old at Hamburg animation studio ASL, which had already worked on “The Little Polar Bear” and “Laura’s Star.”
ASL’s production partners include DeFamilieJanssen/Antwerp, Europool/Munich and Toon City Animation/Manila, as well as Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) and the MEDIA Programme of the European Community. Distributor Farbfilm will release THE LEGEND OF THE TREASURE IN SILVER LAKE in cinemas on April 16, 2009.
Synopsis
Arizona, 1869: Winnetou and Old Shatterhand try to put a stop to the unscrupulous Colonel Brinkley, whose ruthless band of outlaws robs trains and thereby delays construction of the railroad through the Wild West. The blood brothers are also worried about Winnetou’s rebellious sister Nscho-tschi, who does not feel she was born to be a squaw and would rather go hunting like the men. When Bobby, an orphan boy from New York, appears with his best friend, Winchester the rat, and a mysterious map to a gold treasure hidden in Silver Lake enters the picture, events come thick and fast: Brinkley kidnaps Bobby and Nscho-tschi and steals the treasure map—but Winnetou and Old Shatterhand are close on his heels. Bobby finds himself in the greatest adventure of his life. Can the friends defeat the outlaws, and will they find the treasure in Silver Lake?
