All signs point to growth: Gameforge, the world-leading independent online game provider, is looking for 200 new employees in game development, graphics, support, quality assurance, product management, and online marketing. Unlike the traditional games industry, the Karlsruhe company says it has remained largely untouched by the financial crisis and expects to generate revenue in the high hundreds of millions this year. To attract qualified and creative people, Gameforge is launching a broad recruitment campaign. The company also continues to offer scholarships for the Information Technology/Game Development program at SRH University of Applied Sciences, Heidelberg, as part of youth talent support. The recruiting campaign starts with participation at the Talent Fair “Making Games Talents,” which Gameforge is supporting as the main sponsor. The event is scheduled for 7–8 March at the Olymptronica video game convention in Frankfurt, where newcomers can connect directly with the games industry and learn about universities with Game Development specialization. Over the year, Gameforge will also attend additional career fairs and hold its own recruitment events. More details on current job openings can be found at http://www.gameforge.de/jobs. Klaas Kersting: “We will significantly expand our recruitment activities this year. Our economic success has been made possible only by our qualified team. That is why Gameforge is constantly looking for talented people and employees who enjoy growing with us. These jobs are not necessarily restricted to the Karlsruhe location. As a modern internet company, we also offer many opportunities for external employees.” As part of talent development, Gameforge continues its cooperation with SRH University of Applied Sciences, Heidelberg, and again offers several scholarships for the Information Technology/Game Development track for the winter semester 2009/2010. Interested applicants can send application documents to stipendium@gameforge.de. The general application deadline is 31 August 2009. More information about the study program and scholarships can be found at http://web.fh-heidelberg.de/de/fh-heidelberg/4724.html#. Prof. Dr. Tobias Breiner, head of the game development program at SRH University of Applied Sciences, Heidelberg, said: “The games industry is advancing at a rapid pace. With our focus on Game Development, we want to address the shortage of skilled professionals in this field. The scholarship therefore includes a strong practical component.” Gameforge CTO Alexander Rösner said: “We recognize our role-model position because of our market leadership. For that reason, we see it as our responsibility to invest in the future workforce of game development.” With a 350 percent growth rate, Gameforge offers strong prospects for the coming years. Last year, the company’s business model was recognized with honors such as Technology Pioneer 2009, Red Herring 100 Europe, Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Rising Stars, and Entrepreneur of the Year 2008.
