The iMac family features faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors running at up to 3.06 GHz, the latest graphics technology, twice the memory and up to one terabyte of hard-drive storage. Every iMac ships with Leopard and iLife ’09, Apple’s suite of digital-lifestyle applications. iLife ’09 allows users to organise and manage photos, create films, learn musical instruments and compose music quickly and easily.
The iMac family starts with the 20-inch iMac, featuring a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 memory, a 320 GB Serial ATA hard drive and integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics, priced at EUR 1,099 including VAT. The 24-inch iMac, starting at
EUR 1,399 including VAT, provides a 1920 x 1200 widescreen display with up to 30 percent more screen area than the 20-inch model. The 24-inch iMac is available with Intel Core 2 Duo processors up to 3.06 GHz, 4 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 memory, a 640 GB or 1 TB Serial ATA hard drive, and graphics options ranging from the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M through the NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 to ATI Radeon HD 4850 discrete graphics.
The thin aluminium-and-glass iMacs include a glossy widescreen display, integrated iSight video camera, microphone and speakers. The new iMac has a Mini DisplayPort whose all-digital signal is optimised for connecting the new 24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display. Adapters are available for DisplayPort, VGA, DVI and dual-link DVI monitors. The new iMac includes integrated AirPort Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Gigabit Ethernet, six USB 2.0 ports in total, including two on the Apple Keyboard, and one FireWire 800 port.
Every Mac ships with Apple’s iLife ’09 suite of digital-lifestyle applications, allowing users to organise and manage photos, create films, learn musical instruments and compose music. iPhoto ’09 includes two new options, Faces and Places, making photo management easier. iMovie ’09 adds features including the Precision Editor, video stabilisation, extended drag and drop, and animated travel maps. GarageBand ’09 gives users a new way to learn guitar or piano.
Every Mac also comes with Leopard. Leopard includes Time Machine for automatic backup of all data on the Mac; a redesigned Finder for fast browsing and exchanging data across multiple Macs; Quick Look for viewing documents without launching the associated application; Spaces for grouping applications and switching quickly between them; Mail with simple setup and individual templates; and iChat for video chat.
