The “More Than Entertainment: Serious Games” panel on April 1 will demonstrate at Munich Gaming that games are not limited to entertainment without a practical purpose. Mikkel Lucas Overby of Serious Games Interactive in Copenhagen hopes the field will gain broad social relevance: “Serious games offer a major and still largely untapped opportunity to influence behavioral change in society. Associations, governments and NGOs have only recently discovered serious games as a way to attract public attention and encourage people to reconsider their behavior. Change is on its way!”
An exhibition will accompany the events at the [m]athäser Filmpalast. Alongside information about education and career opportunities in the industry, visitors will be able to test games. All nominees for the inaugural German Computer Game Award will be presented and available for extensive hands-on play.
