Screen Visions supplied video display technology for the Ski Flying World Cup final in Planica, Slovenia, on March 20 and 21, 2009.
The Stuttgart LED specialist installed a truck-mounted 54-square-meter Lighthouse R19 video wall, allowing spectators to follow the competition.
The team led by Senior Consultant Jeannette Molfenter used the 16:9 R19 system with 19 mm pixel pitch and 5,000-nit brightness to provide images in daylight and against reflective snow. Narrow access routes also complicated installation.
Screen Visions had supplied large-format video systems for winter-sports events including the Four Hills Tournament and ski-jumping and ski-flying World Cups for more than ten years. The Planica event served as its final major rehearsal before the 2010 Ski Flying World Championships, where it planned to manage all LED screens.
