Trace Software announced that its TraceParts standard and purchased-parts library had received certification for Autodesk Inventor 2010.
The certification continued a long relationship between Trace Software and Autodesk. Trace Software had belonged to the Autodesk Developer Network for more than 15 years.
The TraceParts library contained more than 100 million 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of standard parts and products from hundreds of component manufacturers. Users could browse or search the library, configure components, view dynamic previews, and insert native Inventor models with bill-of-materials data directly into designs.
“Engineers depend more than ever on ready-made content,” said Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions Vice President Robert “Buzz” Kross. He said TraceParts gave users quick access to millions of native Inventor models, allowing them to focus on product design rather than redrawing purchased components.
TraceParts Managing Director Gabriel Guigue said shorter product-development times were critical for Inventor users and noted that more than 70 percent of CAD models added to a bill of materials were later ordered.
