Panasonic Audio Visual Company Systems Europe combined its professional plasma-display and projector businesses in Professional Projectors and Displays Europe, or PPDE. The unit was intended to align Panasonic’s professional consumer- and industrial-market systems more closely with AV-industry trends.
Panasonic had previously managed professional plasma and projector technology through separate units. As more customers showed interest across display product lines, the company created a common point of contact.
PPDE was led by Jerome Berrard, formerly head of the Projector Division. Panasonic planned stronger relationships with channel partners and expanded local product support in Europe.
“Many large customers now use both our plasma and projector products, making integration a logical response to market dynamics,” said Berrard. “With in-house field application engineers, project-sales specialists, and after-sales staff, PPDE is positioned to provide complete services as well as products to users and installation partners. The industry needs this level of service for a changing AV market, particularly in higher education, public displays, and digital signage.”
PPDE also planned to strengthen reseller support and increase customer value. Its portfolio covered plasma and projector products for professional installations and business applications.
