Merlin, ProjectWizards’ project-management software for Mac, is now available for iPhone. Merlin users can edit project data and monitor project status while away from their computers. The iPhone application provides the principal Merlin functions on a mobile device.

Merlin iPhone is a client for the Mac version. Project files are first shared from Merlin 2.7 on a Mac for editing on the iPhone, after which they become available on the Apple handset. This requires the current public beta of Merlin 2.7, which was available as a free download from http://www.projectwizards.net.

“With Merlin iPhone, we are meeting our customers’ requirements,” said ProjectWizards Managing Director Frank Blome. “Thanks to its performance, ease of use, and graphics capabilities, the iPhone is an ideal extension of the Mac version of Merlin. Mobile project management is becoming a reality.”

Merlin 2.7 Server was also being prepared. Together with Merlin 2.7 and Merlin iPhone, it was intended to provide new collaborative project-management options for Mac users. Merlin Server was scheduled to be introduced shortly after Easter.

Merlin iPhone was immediately available free of charge through Apple’s App Store. The required Merlin 2.7 was available as a free beta from the ProjectWizards website. After the beta period, Merlin 2.7 was expected to cost €145 and the iPhone module €45.
