The viewfinders’ rapid response times make them suited to following moving subjects at fast-paced sporting events. TopVision camera operators can use them to capture movement, precision, and emotion on location more effectively.

“We have regularly broadcast top-level football events since the company was founded in 1994, and we have worked in HD since 2005. Sony’s new OLED viewfinders upgrade our current HD cameras again, especially for highly dynamic sports work where response time is critical,” said Eduard Palasan, Managing Director of TopVision. “Through regular investment, we continually expand our position as a leading European event-broadcast service provider and guarantee our customers that every production becomes a successful and unique product.”

The 11-inch colour viewfinder uses organic light-emitting diodes and is Sony’s first professional product with OLED technology. The panels reduce light emission when reproducing dark tones and can therefore display deep black. Their contrast ratio exceeds 1,000,000:1. Because the panel has no backlight, light emission can be regulated across all brightness values from zero to maximum.

The technology provides bright colours and fine detail for monitoring HD material. During recording, users can see a realistic contrast ratio and accurate colour levels. With a resolution of 960 × 540 pixels, the colour viewfinder provides a wide viewing angle and supports accurate focusing. The HDVF-EL100 was designed for professional use, with ergonomics intended to reduce operator strain during long recordings.

TopVision uses the new OLED colour viewfinders with its inventory of Sony HDC-1000 and HDC-1500/1550 HD system cameras and HDC-3300 HD super-motion cameras. The investment extends TopVision’s equipment for HD live production.
