Autodesk is expanding its software portfolio with solutions developed specifically for plant design. The first, AutoCAD P&ID, supports process technicians and engineers in creating, modifying and managing piping and instrumentation diagrams. Product development focused particularly on ease of use and process optimisation at a comparatively low price.

A significant share of AutoCAD users already work in plant planning, construction and maintenance. In close collaboration with customers, Autodesk developed solutions for this market segment that optimise and automate workflows. AutoCAD P&ID provides simpler and faster access to component and line information and tools for reporting, editing, sharing, validating and exchanging design information. Automation accelerates workflows throughout a project and saves substantial time.

Based on the AutoCAD platform, AutoCAD P&ID offers industry-specific functions in a familiar workspace. Straightforward administration when moving from AutoCAD and simple operation let companies improve productivity without lengthy staff training.

“Plant construction is a steadily growing area of the building industry. We can finally offer this segment solutions designed specifically for plant planning and maintenance,” says Christian Weiss, Autodesk Industry Marketing Manager for Architecture and Construction. “AutoCAD P&ID is a first major step towards simpler, more efficient and better plant-design workflows.”
