Seafight, Moorhuhn, World of Warcraft — computer games are popular. Developments including online gaming, social gaming and interactive experiences such as Wii are driving rapid growth in demand for this varied form of entertainment. The games industry consequently needs new talent and additional staff, offering strong opportunities and prospects for those entering the profession.
QANTM Institute Offers a Route into the Industry
At QANTM Institute, one of the world’s leading education providers for game design and development and animation, interested students can now enter the games industry through short courses for the first time. Comic and character design and 3D animation seminars begin in Berlin and Munich in September. They cover game-development fundamentals including perspective perception and drawing, the use of light and shadow, polygon modelling, compositing and editing.
The six-week courses begin in Berlin during the week of September 7 and in Munich during the week of September 14, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the institutes during subsequent weeks. They cost €450 and, on successful completion, can be credited in full towards an advanced QANTM programme. Entry is possible from age 16.
Practice-Oriented Education through to Master’s Level
Alongside short courses, QANTM Institute offers advanced training leading to a Diploma of Interactive Entertainment with specialisation in design or programming.
QANTM focuses on practical education with current equipment, individual support in small classes and innovative learning methods. Instructors are industry experts and convey up-to-date knowledge from everyday professional practice. Students can finish with the diploma or continue to a bachelor’s degree after a further twelve months and a master’s degree after another 24 months.
