Last week, Bremen was firmly in the hands of Screen Visions. The Stuttgart specialist in video and large-screen systems simultaneously supported the 32nd German Protestant Church Congress and the UEFA Cup final broadcast with LED walls. Seven truck-mounted screens with a combined area of 281 square metres were deployed.
For the Church Congress, Screen Visions supplied three Massteknik trucks. Each carried a 56-square-metre Digiled wall with a real pixel pitch of 22 mm and virtual pitch of 11 mm, delivering optimal 16:9 images. The event’s 100,000 permanent attendees and thousands of day visitors could also follow proceedings on two Toshiba LED walls, each with a 15-square-metre image area. These 10 mm screens showed services, concerts and events in 4:3. Because the congress ran from May 20–24 at different locations around Bremen, the trucks had to move several times. Screen Visions used a system from Munich-based Optocore for the first time to transmit signals over 300 metres of fibre-optic cable.
During the congress, the Stuttgart company also worked outside the World in Balance foundation’s tent. Its programme and information for spectators outside were shown on a 29-square-metre Panasonic wall with a real pixel pitch of 24 mm and virtual pitch of 12 mm. Installing this wall created a particular challenge: the Screen Visions team had to reverse the truck for more than 200 metres.
On May 20, Screen Visions also handled the UEFA Cup final broadcast at Bremen’s Waterfront, allowing 10,000 Werder fans to watch the match from Istanbul live. A truck-mounted LED wall was again used: the Lighthouse R19 with a 54-square-metre image area and 19 mm pixel pitch. Although the screen could not help Bremen to victory, it gave fans excellent images of an exciting final.
