The new news portal Dnews.de is now also available as an optimised site for iPhone and Android phones. Dnews applications can be downloaded from the App Store and Android Market. Like all Dnews.de users, iPhone and Android owners benefit from the clear layout, intuitive navigation and innovative concept. Readers receive a compact overview of current events, while weekly columns comment on politics, business, sport, entertainment, the internet and the environment.
The two applications make use of each phone’s technical capabilities. Popular categories such as weather, television listings, live football results and stock-market information are immediately visible at the top of the page. Movable navigation buttons at the bottom let users customise the page. The applications also include “Shake 2 Update”: shaking the phone refreshes the page.
Dnews.de is aimed at readers seeking a rapid overview of current news. A mobile site has also been available since Dnews.de launched in mid-March. Editor-in-Chief Antje Winter explains: “Mobile news consumption on phones and other devices is growing strongly. People now want to follow current news at any time and in any place. Dnews’s compact layout is ideally suited to mobile use, which the two new applications expand and optimise.”
The iPhone application comes in two versions. The free Topnews app offers all articles from the Dnews category of the same name. The premium app contains the complete Dnews news service and costs €1.59. Weather, television listings, stock-market information and live results from all major football matches are included in both applications.
