AREA is now also compatible with all standard browsers running on Windows, Macintosh or Linux.

“The AREA community is extremely important to Autodesk. Digital artists can present their work, exchange knowledge and opinions, find employees or jobs, and discover valuable product information,” says Marc Petit, Autodesk Senior Vice President, Media & Entertainment. “Finding and sharing stories, digital content, tutorials and work in progress makes the community a valuable portal for all artists and developers. AREA v.3 makes this even easier and offers more with the new release.”

New and improved functions in AREA v.3 include:

- Customisable homepage: users can configure the homepage to display only content relevant to their products. AREA now also offers a choice between dark and light interfaces.

- New image gallery: the gallery makes it easier to browse thousands of images uploaded by users.

- Improved search: a much more robust search engine enables faster and more accurate portal-wide searches.

- New comprehensive Personal Profile area: registered members can view every aspect of their account and store content in one central location.

- Updated forums with improved Network News Transfer Protocol support: users can receive and send messages, including attachments, through a newsreader without signing into the website.

- New image and file upload system: improved upload systems provide stronger visual feedback and allow thumbnail previews to be created directly in the interface.
