At Macworld Conference & Expo at the beginning of the year, Autodesk announced the Mac version of its Mudbox 2009 3D sculpting and texture-painting solution. It has been available in German-speaking countries since June, adding another Media & Entertainment solution to Autodesk’s offering for Mac OS X users.

Autodesk Mudbox 2009 was developed by experts for experts in the film, games and design industries, giving 3D artists a tool for creating models and textures without having to deal with technical details. It features a highly intuitive and user-friendly interface and numerous creative tools for producing highly realistic 3D models with millions of polygons.

It also provides brush tools with which artists can create and edit complex organic 3D models with the finest structures. For texture painting, details such as skin imperfections can be painted directly onto the 3D model. Mudbox lets artists bring an object into the desired form step by step, giving creativity considerable freedom.
