Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), the umbrella organisation for four television broadcasters in Dubai, has commissioned Sony Professional to build two high-definition outside-broadcast trucks. DMI is relying on a space-saving design, high flexibility, and the best technical quality. The equipment will be used in future at sporting and live events in Dubai and the Middle East.
Each OB truck contains ten HDC-1400 cameras, two HDC-3300 slow-motion cameras, an MVS-8000G HD video switcher, LMD monitors, and HDW-M2000P videotape recorders. The OB trucks will also be equipped with audio mixers based on Solid State Logic’s modern C132 digital audio console. Because video transmission uses fibre technology, each truck has ten HDFX fibre-to-Triax converters or HDTX Triax-to-fibre converters. The fibre cables in the OB trucks can connect to the existing Triax cables in Dubai’s stadiums, ensuring maximum flexibility for live broadcasting.
The OB truck, only 13 metres long, will be designed and built in cooperation with EVS Broadcast Equipment. EVS will provide two six-channel slow-motion servers for replay and two four-channel recorders for the slow-motion cameras. Sony Professional’s team will assume complete project management for construction of the OB truck, from designing the video, audio, and control systems through installation, configuration, and testing.
