The discipline-specific suites bundle several Autodesk solutions and facilitate the education of pupils and students in technical disciplines.
Autodesk is presenting five new software suites for educating pupils and students in architecture, building and civil engineering, mechanics and mechanical engineering, and industrial design. The Autodesk Education Suites contain almost all the solutions the company offers in the respective industry, together with additional programs from related disciplines. For the first time, every suite also includes Autodesk 3ds Max Design visualisation and animation software. By providing the diverse solutions, Autodesk aims to enable interdisciplinary teaching at schools and universities and simplify education. At the same time, the company is responding to institutions’ budget situations by offering the Autodesk Education Suites on special terms.
“Occupational profiles are changing at a rapid pace. The fields in which architects and engineers work now extend far beyond their traditional core areas. Interdisciplinary thinking and planning are therefore more important than ever,” says Herbert Bickelmann, Education Manager at Autodesk. “Our newly designed software packages allow interdisciplinary expertise to be taught that goes beyond pure CAD design and also includes visualisation, simulation, and analysis.”
Autodesk Education Suites for Universities and Continuing-Education Institutions
The following new Autodesk Education Suites are available to universities and continuing-education institutions:
- Autodesk Education Suite for Architecture and Construction 2010
- Autodesk Education Suite for Building and Civil Engineering 2010
- Autodesk Education Suite for Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering 2010
- Autodesk Education Suite for Industrial Design 2010
- Autodesk Education Master Suite 2010 (contains all products from the other suites)
Together, the five Autodesk Education Suites comprise the latest releases of 18 Autodesk solutions.
Special Autodesk Education Suite for General and Vocational Schools
Autodesk also offers the “Design Academy” suite for general and vocational schools. It includes 2D and 3D solutions intended to prepare pupils for technical study or accompany them during technical vocational training.
Autodesk is additionally expanding its offering for pupils, students, and instructors with free teaching materials, self-study tutorials, and free software for home use.
