In keeping with Panasonic’s environmental commitment, the company promises that the new PT-D5000 excels with particularly low standby power consumption of 0.3 watts. This is below the mandatory limit of 0.5 watts that the EU will prescribe as the maximum for corresponding projectors from January 2010.
Panasonic’s latest LAN Control functionality allows system setup and operation to be monitored and controlled quickly, easily, and flexibly. To compensate for the loss of image detail that frequently occurs in brightly lit rooms and daylight use, Panasonic’s special Daylight View 2 system improves image perception for viewers by adjusting image sharpness, gamma curves, and colour correction.
Details at a glance:
- Image quality: the Panasonic PT-D5000 uses single-chip DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology to reproduce clear, vivid images even in bright environments. Through highly efficient light-convergence technology and an optimised colour wheel, it achieves a brightness of 5,000 ANSI lumens. Panasonic’s RGB Booster combines proprietary Vivid Colour Control technology with a newly developed Lamp Modulation Drive system. On this basis, the single-chip DLP projector ensures high colour fidelity together with high light output. To compensate for the loss of image detail that frequently occurs in brightly lit rooms and daylight use, Panasonic’s special Daylight View 2 system improves image perception by adjusting sharpness, gamma curves, and colour correction. A new Detail Clarity processor adds depth and clarity to image detail, giving pictures a more natural and three-dimensional appearance.
- Flexible installation: a wide adjustment range for horizontal and vertical lens shift guarantees virtually distortion-free image projection, with adjustment performed easily by remote control. The projector can also operate at any angle around the horizontal axis, enabling floor or ceiling projection, for example. Like other professional Panasonic projectors, the PT-D5000 can be controlled remotely over a LAN. The projector can additionally send an email message if an error occurs or a lamp needs replacing.
Panasonic’s Multi Projector Monitoring & Control software allows devices to be monitored, controlled, and programmed for specific switch-on and switch-off times required for particular display and digital-signage applications.
- Ease of maintenance: the dual-lamp system used in the PT-D5000 increases image brightness and allows a presentation to continue if one lamp fails. In 24-hour operation, as in digital-signage installations, the PT-D5000 uses Lamp Relay mode to alternate between two lamps and distribute the load.
Panasonic’s Auto Cleaning air filter ensures consistently optimal airflow through the projector. This is achieved by a patented air-filter cassette whose electrostatic filter fleece automatically advances and is cleaned when contaminated. This function improves filtration and reduces maintenance because the air-filter element only needs replacing after approximately 10,000 operating hours.
