According to LifeSize, the new LifeSize Multipoint 230 multi-conferencing unit (MCU) provides complete support for multi-participant videoconferencing at full-HD resolution of 1080p and 30 frames per second.
The company also announced Control 4.5, a new version of its videoconferencing-management software. Control 4.5 is said to provide expanded support for multivendor video networks and integration options for leading systems-management applications. This makes it possible to integrate HD video communications seamlessly into a company’s own IT landscape. With the introduction of these outstanding systems, LifeSize says it is once again raising the bar for telepresence and HD video communications.
Through the use of the latest DSP technology, Multipoint 230 belongs to the enterprise class. Up to 30 locations can communicate authentically with one another by HD video simultaneously at 720p resolution and a frame rate of 30 frames per second; at 1080p and 30 frames per second, a shared video call with up to 15 locations is possible. Multipoint 230 also provides additional capacity for standard-definition systems. This enables the use of up to 120 SD systems at 360p and a frame rate of 30 fps.
Thanks to Multipoint 230’s flexibility, conference participants have an easy-to-use interface with new features. “The user can now choose their own screen layout, for example,” says Andreas Wienold, Director of Sales EMEA at LifeSize. “Administrators benefit from centralised management and control of system and conference settings.” With the best price-to-performance ratio per port among MCUs in this class, Multipoint 230 makes HD bridging even more affordable. LifeSize explains that this enables even more people to speak face to face across great distances.
