Getting attractive gigs for a passionate band, designing and perfecting your own website, or recording a first CD in a home studio: according to the organisation, SET “School of Entertainment and Technology,” together with Akademie Deutsche POP, has developed the “myMusicproduction,” “myMusicmanagement” and “myWebdesign” courses. Over one semester—six months—they teach people interested in music and media the fundamentals of the respective field.
The so-called “myCourses” offer the opportunity both to perfect a beloved hobby and to sample a new field that may reveal a new professional perspective.
What is special about the courses is their complete independence from time and place. With a low time commitment of only around five to ten hours per week and a virtual learning and practice concept, the courses can readily be completed alongside school or work.
At the centre of each course is a supervised learning platform that provides theoretical materials, instructional videos and a virtual campus. Through this platform, students regularly receive professional feedback from experienced instructors to develop and further improve their skills.
Requirements for the “myCourses” are a minimum age of 16 and a personal computer with an internet connection. The “myMusicproduction” course also requires basic home-recording equipment.
The “myMusicproduction,” “myMusicmanagement” and “myWebdesign” courses begin in October 2009. The cost is €99 per month. Further information about the course programme can be found at http://www.set-school.de.
