High End Society Participates in the Programme of the 3rd International VDT Symposium

As the High End Society and the Association of German Sound Engineers (VDT) announce, the High End Society will participate through a cooperation in the programme of the 3rd International VDT Symposium, which will take place from October 30 to November 1, 2009, at the Schloss Hohenkammer seminar centre under the theme “A Focus on Hearing—Audio Technology, Quality, Perception.”

With around 50 member companies, the High End Society sees itself as an interest group for manufacturers, distributors and specialist retailers in the field of high-quality consumer electronics. The association organises the successful specialist trade fair “High End” annually; this year, 248 exhibiting companies presented their products and services to more than 13,500 visitors at Munich’s M,O,C.

The programme of the 3rd International VDT Symposium, focused on questions of quality and perception, addresses a complex of topics that is becoming increasingly relevant to practically all audio professionals and manufacturers in view of the profound upheavals in the distribution and marketing of their products. The subject offers numerous interesting points of overlap with the High End Society’s focal areas, particularly through the joint consideration of the production and playback sides.

The contributions planned by the High End Society therefore ideally complement the symposium programme with important aspects relating, for example, to the playback and perception of media products. They provide the production side with important insights into the needs and priorities of discerning consumers. Topics such as current loudness and dynamics issues, room acoustics, surround-sound and image reproduction, as well as questions of format compatibility and quality scaling, are currently being discussed intensively on both the production and playback sides. The two associations’ content collaboration in shaping the symposium programme is an important step towards a holistic perspective and the exchange of information and opinions among industry participants.

In this context, the symposium provides an efficient platform that brings together representatives from production, marketing and the equipment industry in their shared interest in promoting the artistic, aesthetic and technical quality of their products.
