With the HD-FOX IR, HUMAX is expanding its innovative product portfolio with an HDTV satellite receiver officially TÜV-certified for ORF reception. According to the announcement, the HD-FOX IR has ORF’s new, future-proof Irdeto encryption system with a direct smart-card slot. This enables viewers in Austria to receive ORF 1 HD easily, with 24 hours of programming each day comprising sporting events, series highlights and feature films in HDTV quality, as well as all ORF programs in standard definition.

According to company information, the HD-FOX IR is ideally suited as an entry-level device for those interested in HDTV. Thanks to the latest chip technology, the HD-FOX IR receives HDTV in optimal quality. Clear, razor-sharp images and a unique television experience are the result. The innovative Best Picture image-enhancement technology also enables the HD-FOX IR to provide optimal image adjustment for standard-definition television signals (SDTV) on all flat-screen television devices.

The Dolby Digital output provides optimal spatial sound, while an electronic program guide (EPG) offers a clear overview and rapid, uncomplicated selection of the desired television program. A Common Interface slot also permits reception of additional pay-TV offerings. The receiver’s generous storage capacity of up to 4,000 channel positions leaves sufficient freedom for individual organization. In standby mode, the HD-FOX IR promises extremely low power consumption of less than one watt.

The HUMAX HD-FOX IR is available from retailers now at a recommended retail price of EUR 199.00.
