The NVIDIA ION platform is based on a powerful GPU and an energy-efficient CPU. It was developed specifically for use in small, quiet, energy-efficient and inexpensive computers. Both GPU and CPU are used for compute-intensive applications. As a result, ION-based netbooks offer functionality like a fully equipped notebook - including Windows 7 support.
ION delivers graphics performance ten times better than an average netbook (1). It can also play 1080p video and Blu-ray films without difficulty, and many popular PC games can run. The energy-efficient design ensures particularly long battery life.
The ION Platform Supports:
* all versions of Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7
* HD video, including 1080p and Blu-ray films
* HD video on an external monitor through HDMI
* popular games such as Spore, Portal and Battlefield Heroes
* hardware acceleration for NVIDIA CUDA-based applications such as vReveal, Badaboom and Arcsoft SimHD
Samsung N510 is one of around 50 ION-based products being introduced this year. These include Acer AspireRevo, ASUS EeeTop PC ET20, Lenovo Q110, AsRock ION 330, OCZ Neutrino, Maingear Pulse and motherboards from ASUS and Zotac.
The new Samsung N510 will be presented at IFA and is available at prices starting from 499 euros.
