IBC 2009: Blackmagic Design Acquires DaVinci Colour-Correction Systems

At IBC 2009 in Amsterdam, Blackmagic Design announced its purchase of DaVinci colour-correction systems.

The manufacturer of high-end video cards and converter solutions will therefore integrate the colour-grading systems used in many post-production houses into its own solutions.

Following the acquisition, Blackmagic Design intends to continue supporting 2K systems, but to phase out the product line in favour of the 4K system.

Annual support contracts are also being discontinued with immediate effect. They are being replaced by a “pay-as-you-go” system: users only have to pay for support when problems occur.
