Sid, Scrat & Co remain unstoppable. The likeable heroes are not only delighting German audiences but also causing a sensation worldwide. ICE AGE 3 has set another record and, with international box-office takings of more than 650 million US dollars, has become the best animated film of all time internationally! Worldwide, the film has already taken a sensational total of more than 850 million US dollars.
Things are going particularly well for the Ice Age friends in Germany: only 10 days after the film’s release, ICE AGE 3 received the Golden Screen, and after more than 6 million visitors in only 22 days, the Golden Screen with Star. The guest of honour at the presentation of the screens was Sid’s German voice, Otto Waalkes, whose outstanding verbal acrobatics decisively shaped Sid in Germany.
At the German box office, ICE AGE 3 is the most successful film since “The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King”, which opened in December 2003. The total number of visitors so far is 8,600,749, of whom 2,186,830 saw the film in 3D.
ICE AGE 3 is now on the verge of breaking the next sound barrier: with the help of Sid’s German voice Otto Waalkes, Sid, Scrat & Co intend to become the first film since 2004 to reach the mark of 9 million cinema visitors!
A special surprise now awaits the lucky cinemagoers: from now on, every 100,000th visitor will be personally congratulated by Otto Waalkes as part of a cinema event.
