Autodesk and Parallels, a leading provider of virtualization and automation software, have signed an agreement under which Autodesk recommends “Parallels Desktop for Mac” as its preferred virtualization software for the Mac. Autodesk now supports the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, Autodesk Inventor Professional, 3ds Max, 3ds Max Design and the Autodesk Revit BIM solution for Mac OS X via Parallels Desktop.

“Autodesk customers are increasingly working with both Mac and Windows and have asked us to support Mac virtualization,” says Chris Bradshaw, Chief Marketing Officer at Autodesk. “We are pleased to have gained Parallels as a partner and Parallels Desktop as our preferred virtualization software. This is another step in supporting customers who work with the Mac. They now have access to our best-known 2D and 3D design, engineering and entertainment solutions – in addition to the five Mac applications we currently offer.”

Alongside products in the Autodesk Alias family, the current versions of Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Mudbox, Autodesk Stitcher Unlimited and Autodesk Sketchbook Pro are compatible with Mac OS X. Autodesk also recently released Sketchbook Mobile, an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
