This is achieved through 3Dconnexion’s six-degrees-of-freedom sensor technology, which allows Autodesk Maya users to navigate 3D models intuitively or move through 3D environments by gently pulling, pushing and turning the mouse cap. The buttons on the 3D mice were also preprogrammed for the commands most frequently used in Maya 2010. To adapt them to a personal workflow, they can also be programmed individually via the “Mapping Editor” button in Maya.
The 3D mice are used together with a standard two-dimensional mouse. This results in a balanced, cooperative working style for both hands and improves model or environment control in Autodesk Maya. The ergonomic design of the 3D mice also enables relaxed work, even for hours at a time.
With 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice, users can navigate freely around their models and view them from every side. Details can be checked more easily, such as simulation problems in Maya nCloth, Maya nParticles, Maya Fluid Effects, Maya Hair and Maya Fur. Users can therefore create higher-quality simulations in less time.
Autodesk Maya 2010 supports the entire 3Dconnexion product line: SpacePilot PRO, SpacePilot, SpaceExplorer, SpaceNavigator and SpaceNavigator for Notebooks.
