The HDC-P1 is Sony Professional’s new Full HD multipurpose camera, the company explains. By combining 2/3-inch CCD technology with two optical servo filter wheels and a compact, lightweight housing, the new model is versatile and flexible in use and produces high image quality.
The Sony HDC-P1 is the long-awaited addition to Sony Professional’s flagship HDC studio cameras and is designed for a wide range of unmanned camera positions and live HD recording, for example in sports stadiums. It can also be used on robotic pedestals in automated broadcast studios. In addition, the compact housing can be mounted in pairs on a 3D camera rig. The Full HD multipurpose camera combines every advantage of the HDC studio cameras in a considerably lighter and more compact housing, the statement continues.
“Many programme makers want a camera that can be used in spatially difficult locations, records high-resolution images and is also easy to operate,” says Gisbert Hochgürtel, Product Manager at Sony Professional. “The HDC-P1 offers exactly that. It can be used universally, enables completely new camera angles for HD productions and records at an image quality comparable to our HDC studio cameras.”
The HDC-P1’s 2/3-inch CCD block with 2.2 million pixels achieves a sensitivity of F11 at 1080/50i. The camera supports a range of formats, including 1080/50i, 59.94i and 720/50p, 59.94p. Software upgrades available from summer 2010 will optionally add 23.98psf, 24psf, 25psf and 29.97psf. The camera is also compatible with every studio-control system in the HDC camera series and can therefore be integrated easily into a networked control system, the company continues.
The HDC-P1 HD multipurpose camera is expected to be available from February 2010.
