EyeTV 3 users can now also stream live television to their iPhone over a 3G data connection. Elgato’s new EyeTV Live3G web application connects the iPhone to the user’s Mac at home and provides access to all live channels and the EyeTV archive. Its underlying HTTP live-streaming technology conserves battery life while providing the best possible picture quality. Live3G requires the EyeTV 3.3 update released today and is available now free of charge at live3g.eyetv.com. The web application is an ideal complement to the recently released EyeTV for iPhone app, in which streaming live television requires a WLAN internet connection.
State-of-the-art HTTP Live Streaming
EyeTV 3.3 and EyeTV Live3G use the HTTP-streaming technology introduced with iPhone OS 3.0, which ensures the best possible quality thanks to H.264 video and AAC audio. Unlike other proprietary streaming solutions, playback of EyeTV streams is accelerated by the iPhone hardware. Live3G therefore delivers an optimum picture with minimal battery load.
Technical requirements
EyeTV Live3G uses Elgato’s free “My EyeTV” location service to connect the iPhone to the Mac running EyeTV 3.3. Live3G requires an iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 3.1. On the Mac side, an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and a compatible connected television tuner are required.

The web application is available now free of charge at live3g.eyetv.com. EyeTV 3.3 is available as a free update for EyeTV 3 users. Elgato television solutions are available from the Elgato Online Store (www.elgato.com), the Apple Store, Gravis, numerous Saturn and Media Markt branches, and specialist retailers.
