Wacom, the leading manufacturer of pen tablets, interactive pen displays and intuitive interface solutions, is presenting the STU-300, a mobile LCD signature tablet that allows handwritten signatures to be captured and authenticated while on the move.
The STU-300 is based on the successful STU-500, but is aimed in particular at field-service professionals. Its small and compact format and its robust product design, geared towards durability, make it ideal for insurance agents who need to record customer signatures on contracts or technicians who service or repair equipment on site.
The tablet makes it possible to capture handwritten signatures without having to print paper documents. This makes transactions and workflows in which paper documents are traditionally still used significantly more efficient. With the signature tablet, customers can sign contracts, consent to payment transactions or confirm deliveries quickly and securely.
Hardened anti-glare protective glass makes the STU-300 extremely durable and scratch-resistant. Thanks to the built-in sensor, the STU-300 has an extended service life compared with conventional resistive touch sensors.
Wacom’s STU-300 is intuitive and easy to use. It captures signatures directly on its LC display using a cordless and battery-free pen. The sensor determines the signature’s biometric information by recording coordinates and pressure. Individual pressure behaviour, writing rhythm and writing speed produce a unique biometric signature profile that is virtually impossible to forge. The display also provides sufficient space for long signatures.
The pen is also permanently connected to the STU-300 and therefore cannot be lost. When it is not in use, it can be conveniently stored inside the device.
The STU-300 will be available from February 2010 through Wacom and its selected partner companies in the signature sector.
