Architects, urbanists, trend researchers and filmmakers present their ideas on the future of cinema, its architecture, its sociological function and the urban environment of the cinema. According to the information, the 2010 “Berlinale Keynotes” address questions about the future of cinema as a transdisciplinary forum.
Star architect Norman Foster is one of the international speakers at the “Berlinale Keynotes”, which take place on Sunday, February 14, 2010, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Neue Nationalgalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. According to Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, other prominent speakers include Marin Karmitz, French producer, distributor and cinema owner; Austrian architect Prof Wolf D. Prix of the avant-garde architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au; renowned trend researcher Dr Li Edelkoort; experimental filmmaker Prof Heinz Emigholz; and architecture critic and museum director Deyan Sudjic (director of the 2002 Venice Architecture Biennale).
The Keynotes initiators, Berlinale Director Dieter Kosslick and Medienboard Managing Director Petra Müller, are pleased that the “Berlinale Keynotes” can once again contribute to the discourse on the future of cinema and the cinema industry, that the festival is opening up further to representatives of other media through the “Berlinale Keynotes”, and that cross-industry exchange can become established.
The Berlinale Keynotes are an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. In 2010 they are being realised with the special support of the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft, it continues. For their further cooperation, we thank the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the Nationalgalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. The event will also be broadcast live on the Berlinale website at http://www.berlinale.de.
Admission is by invitation only. However, a limited allocation of tickets will be available through the central Berlinale ticket sales office (7 euros, reduced 5 euros).
